First Day at Adobe

I haven't updated my blog in way too long, but I blame that entirely on school and SAT, not my own laziness. (Procrastination? What's that??) Now it's summer, and the months of freedom and lonely togetherness have come upon us, and I promise that I will try to update my blog everyday. I don't even know if anyone will read these posts at this point, but I guess I've always blogged as a way to remember.

Today was my first day as an intern (program participant, whatever you may call it) at Adobe in San Francisco, and it was honestly an amazing day. I woke up excited and ready to go at 6 am, pulled on brand new trousers and blouse, and I was ready to go. I boarded the BART (public train transport here in the bay area) at 7:30, and after 40 minutes and a bus ride, I was standing in the historic 601 Townsend, Adobe's main office in San Francisco.

The building is a place of high historical value. According to someone who leads the security and safety systems of Adobe here in SF, it survived the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes, so clearly it is a strong building. The interior has been completely redesigned and it is very modern and chic. Our classroom/workroom is pretty cool, too. All four walls are white board, so we had a lot of fun playing hangman after we finished our assignment.

We were also given brand new laptops. It's a surface tablet, so it's touch screen and comes with a stylus. It's pretty cool, and programming and working on it is a pleasure. Thanks to Adobe for sponsoring this and giving us all a new tablet! Here's to hoping we get to keep them after the program is over...

Also, after the day was over, there was an open house for the parents. A lot of questions were asked and answered, and we had the opportunity to meet some alumni of the program. They said there was a lot of opportunity to network with working executives as well as other program participants, so I'm looking forward to learning how to network and building an awesome one that can help me in the future. There's also a lot of cool field trips planned. Apparently there is a trip to Pinterest this Friday and there is a huge trip to Facebook next week.

All in all, it seems like it's going to be an awesome summer. I'm so glad I got this opportunity, and I plan to make the most of it!
